Bruno Senna targets podium finish in 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Bruno Senna has said that his target is to secure podium finish in 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
Senna said that they are hoping to come strong in the next race and are aiming to score some reasonable points so as to make their position stronger in this year’s championship. Moreover, he said that he is feeling pleased with the progress which the team
has made in the season so far.
“Hopefully we can have good strong weekend and then get onto the podium and deep into top ten and get some strong points. That's what really matters. I think race win in my first full season would be dream come true but for moment I'm very happy with scoring
points,” he said.
Presently, he is standing at 15th place in the drivers’ championship with 16 points. Additionally, he is 5 points ahead of Felipe Massa of Ferrari and just 1 point behind Nico Hulkenberg of Force India.
On the other hand, his teammate, Pastor Maldonado is at 10th place in the drivers’ rankings with 29 points. Besides, he is 2 points ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India and 10 points behind Sergio Perez of Sauber.
Furthermore, it will be important to mention that he took an amazing victory in the Spanish GP held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. However, he has not been able to score even a single point in the last three grands prix.
Nevertheless, the Brazilian driver said that Maldonado will soon be able to strike back in the season ahead. In addition, he said that the Venezuelan driver has been working hard with the team to overcome the ongoing issues.
“Of course there's something I really want which is to win race,” he said. “But we have to be patient. It's Pastor's second season and he had whole of last year to learn, to make mistakes and to develop himself. And he's very well integrated with team and
his engineer.”
The British team, currently at 7th place in the constructors’ championship, is arguably one of the most competitive midfield contenders and it will be interesting to see how the season progresses for them.
