Bruno Senna urges Lotus Renault GP to improve performance overnight – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP’s Bruno Senna has recently urged his team to improve its car following the Friday practice sessions and admitted that the team is going to have a long night ahead.
“We made a step forward with the balance over the two sessions but there is still some work to be done to get the car race-ready. We have a long night ahead of us to figure out what we are going to do. On the upside, I managed to complete a good number of
laps and there were no incidents nor was there damage to the car,” he said.
Senna finished in 12th place in the timesheets for the 2nd free practice session on Friday while his teammate Vitaly Petrov finished in a disappointing 14th place.
“We need to work hard before we get to FP3 tomorrow in order to understand what we can do to improve our pace and consistency, as there's more to come from the car this weekend,” he added.
For the young Brazilian driver, this is a satisfactory result as he performed much better than his more experienced teammate which proves that with respect to driving skills, Senna is producing great results and his team cannot hold anything against him
like they did against Nick Heidfeld.
However, these are not the results Renault are aiming for as they want to finish at least in 4th place this year in the constructors’ standings ahead of Mercedes GP.
It is not going to be easy for Renault as they are 38 points behind Mercedes but still with 6 races left in the 2011 Formula 1 season, it is definitely not impossible but it is going to be quite difficult for them to cope up with Mercedes.
The Singapore Grand Prix takes place at the Marina Bay which is a street circuit and according to Renault’s past history at the circuit, they have scored some pretty amazing results with Fernando Alonso but this year, it seems that the odds are totally against
them.
