West Brom manager Steve Clarke insists that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Brunt is to remain as club captain once he returns to the side after his injury spell on the sidelines.
The manager made it quite clear that the captaincy will not be taken away from Brunt when he returns from his injury. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonas-c18967 Olsson, the club’s first choice centre-back, has worn the captain’s armband for the greater part of the season so far, but Clarke
insists that Brunt will remain club captain.
Chris Brunt had been ruled out with a calf problem and was then dealt another blow as he sustained a hamstring strain. The midfielder has been since dealing with injury troubles of one nature or the other.
Despite the player’s absence from the team, the captaincy is to remain with him. Jonas Olsson, who has arguably been the Baggies’ best player in recent seasons, signed a new contract which extends his stay at the Hawthorns till 2016.
The Swedish international has thus committed the rest of his top-flight professional career to the Baggies, and manager Steve Clarke was incredibly delighted by this news.
Clarke hailed the professional conduct of Olsson and how the player handled the contract situation. The manager said:
"Chris stays as captain. We're comfortable with that.”
"Jonas has done what he should have done. He has seen how the working relationship with me goes and seen how we started. And the players respect him.”
"It's important you keep your established players. The board has done that really well here."
The manager is currently busy with all his players who have stayed back in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liam-Ridgewell-c22240 have all stayed back to work on their fitness before the Premier League resumes next
week.
West Brom will host reigning champions at home once the international break is over, and Steve Clarke had earlier stated that their season will begin after the challenging fixture, which will truly test their home form and defensive solidarity. Clarke added:
“We know we're a good team and a good group who can stand up top to anyone who comes here. We hope to prove that again against Manchester City. The season starts really after the international break.”
