Brushing teeth with braces?

Question

I only brush my teeth 2 times a day but 30 minnits each time I brush is this okay?

I have had my braces for a year now and im not sure if im brushing my teeth enough.

Well it's okay as long as you feel okay about it there's no problem with that except if you think it's just a waste of time but as what you have said I think no. You have the patience of doing that congratulations!!!

umm your OVER brushing im my opinion.. do it for like 5 each time.. so 10 minutes a day.. and when they take them off i think they clean them anyway.. so yeah i dunno.. =P

you are brushing wayy too long. i had braces for nearly three years, brushed about 3 minutes, 2 times day, & my teeth were a good, even color when the braces came off on wednesday. if you brush twice a day for 2-3 minutes you will be fine. :)

I brush mine two times a day and this coming August I will have had my braces for three years. I do about 2 minutes of actual brushing each time I brush. This is what my orthodontist told me to do. Just brush twice a day, two to three minutes each time. And MAKE SURE TO FLOSS! If you don't floss the plaque between your teeth will go between and on your wires and the dentist will just give you more tools to use to get them off. If you haven't already, talk to your regular dentist and see if they do cleanings for people with orthadontic treatments. If they do you should get your teeth cleaned every 3 months while you have your braces on. The little blue or whatever color yours are, the things that they give you to floss with, I don't use those because they are just too much of a hastle. I get Super Floss...it has the wire right on the floss and it's got the stuff to clean your braces with right there too...it's very good to use if you floss and have braces. But see if you can go get your teeth cleaned every 3 to 4 months...that's the recommended length of time to get them cleaned for people with braces. Normal people get every 6 months, but with your braces you build up more plaque.

holy c**p. you brush for 30 minutes!!!!!! are you crazy. that is soo crazy and obsessive. your supposed to brush 2-3 minutes!! your brushing 15 times longer than you should be. your going to ruin your gums if you do that. seriously!!

i brushed mine 2 times a day with braces and that was fine. As long as your teeth look the same colour as when your braces went on then thats ok, if your teeth have discoloured then there may be a white mark from where the metal was when the braces come off.
