Brussels expects to observe a thrilling finish at this season’s Samsung Diamond League
The Meteorological office has forecasted a fair and bright day (evening) in a good news for spectators of the Samsung Diamond League’s second final, to be held in Brussels, Belgium, on September 16.
The long quest of this season’s Samsung Diamond League began back on May 6 in Doha and now, the event is left with the most consistent performer of the world in a wide array of 32 disciplines. Before the final, the Samsung diamond league observed 14 meetings.
Now, when the climax of the event is on, spectators of the event are anxiously looking forward to see it in the capital of Belgium.
The Samsung Diamond League has always been a cash enriched event. For this year’s competition, organisers had allocated a total of 8 million US dollars for the prize money ($40,000 for each winner). Just like the first final of the event in Zurich, 16 winners
in the event shall be provided with the prize money along with beautiful trophies.
The athletes taking part in the run can broadly be divided into two groups. The first group is comprised of performers like David Rudisha, Olha Saladukha, Sally Pearson, Carmelita Jeter and Amantle Montsho, who have already marked their dominance in the
Daegu event and they will utilise the Brussels showdown only to cement their success.
On the other hand, there is a group of the athletes, comprised of Walter Dix, Andreas Thorkildsen, Renaud Lavillenie, Dylan Armstrong and Phillips Idowu who could not end the Daegu event with a top of the podium finish. However, they are eager to make up
their failure at the World Athletics Championships by outperforming their rivals in Brussels.
Besides all these impressive performers, the athlete who is going to be the undisputed centre of attraction in the competition is Jamaican star and world athletics champion for 200m run, Usain Bolt. Bolt, who had been disqualified from the 100m competition
in this year’s largest athletics event, while utilising the Samsung Diamond League’s platform, will try to reclaim his dominance over the distance of 100m run.
