  1. I visited the most perfect place called Brugge I cant remember how far it was but if you get to  Amsterdam go see Ann Franks house  until this day I remember how I felt by looking out of her bedroom window and the pictures on her wall oh and the bookcase is there too!

  2. You should see the Grand Place (kind of like an American Town Square), the Mannequin Pis, The Royal Palace (if it is open), and you should eat at Aux Armes de Bruxelles

  3. in Brussels : The Aviation Museum called "Le Musée du Cinquantenaire" is very interesting.

Near Brussels (about 30 minutes drive) : Waterloo

The Wellington Museum, right opposite the Waterloo church in the center of town and...the battle site with its famous lion on top of the hill and lots of souvenir shops  ( a bit too touristic for my taste but... that's personal) a little way out of town

About 1h30 drive - via the highway or less by train - from Brussels : Ieper

If you are really interested in WW, the place to be is the city called Ieper/Ypres in the Flanders and the surrounding areas between Ieper and the Belgian coast.

Musea, open trenches, the Famous arch where they still call the "beating of the retreat"every night at 8h00 -which remains very emotional-even for people who are not interested in WW stories/history. You feel this little pinch in your heart when you realize that some WW veterans still come here, on a regular basis, to pay their respect to their dead comrades.

Also, in this area, the cheese factory called "Passendaal". This factory, turned into a museum, is quite interesting (with or without a degustation of cheese products)

About the Parliament buildings : you can admire them from the outside but I am not sure if you are allowed inside.

    Quartier européen (rue Béliard)

For a more detailed list of things to do, you could also check the "resolved questions" in this Belgium section. There aren't that many so you'll quickly find what you are looking for. :-))

Have a nice time in our beautiful country.

    Hope this helps

  4. You should definitely go to Ypres if you are interested in world war history, but not far from Brussels is also the Fort of Breendonk, this is were the n***s brought everyone before sending them to the concentration camps.

A good thing to do in August, if you are in Brussels on Sunday is to go to the "Marollen" area, it's easy to find. From the Palais de Justice you take the elevator down to the Marollen and on Sundays there is a lot of atmosphere for the Sunday market.  You should definitely go to the Place de Jeux de Boules and have a meal in the "Skieven Arkitekt", you will get better food than in the rue de Boucher and pay less (although I would recommend you to walk trough the rue de boucher, but don't eat there unless in the "aux armes de Bruxelles", many restaurants, not all, are tourist traps.

Apparently the summer will start now, and I hope you will have a sunny stay in Brussels!

  5. you're in luck!!!.  Brussels in incredible - the buildings are incredibly beautiful.

Flanders fields (you must know the poem!!) are not far, and there is an amazing 2nd world war memorial in Liege, which is about an hour train ride from Brussels.  Many, many soldiers are buried there and there''s a building with pictures, and all kinds of interesting inforamtion.  It's very moving.

  6. Simple low budjet plan:

1st : atomium, mini-europa and the palace of the king .

2nd: The parlement & wetstraat a lil shopping  then le marolle quartier ofcourse u r eating inthe rue de boulanger.

3rd: getting lost in the many little -charming chopping streets that make it the centre of europe ending at the NATO buildings. and i hope u see them all

ps: "RUE DE BOULANGIER is the MAX" as they say in Belgium
