Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan will be crowned doubles World No.1 at the year-end for the seventh time in last nine years. It’s a remarkable achievement and they have been ruling the world of doubles tennis for almost a decade now.
Bob Bryan showed his delight in following words “We're obviously extremely pumped to finish at No. 1, especially with the quality of teams on the doubles tour. It's always our ultimate goal when we start the year and we'll definitely
look back on 2011 with positive feelings. I want to congratulate our biggest rivals Mirnyi-Nestor, Llodra-Zimonjic, and the Indian Express (Bhupathi-Paes) on highly successful seasons and we look forward to another awesome event with the eight best teams in
London”.
First round win at Valencia Open confirmed their year-end top spot and left no chances for the current World No.2 duo Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic to take over them. Twin Bryan brothers have been tremendous throughout the
year and are still looking fit at the age of 33.
They have surpassed numerous records in their career. They remained World No.1 in 2003, 2005-07 and 2009-10. They have sustained their doubles No.1 spot for 265 weeks and will surpass the former World No.1, McEnroe’s record of
270 weeks this December.
Records and titles keep flowing for them and they have won at-least five titles every year for the past ten years and have most titles (74) than any of the doubles team in the era. They couldn’t believe that they were close to
beating the record of the most incredible player in the history of tennis and praised him for his extraordinary talent and legendry career.
They dedicated their achievements to their parents; they paid special tribute to their coach, David Macpherson, who has been working extremely hard with them during practice sessions. They also thanked their fans all across the
globe that have been glued to Television screens throughout their matches.
This year they were crowned champions of Australian Open and Wimbledon and carried their tally of Grand Slams to 11 in total. They also won two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles at Madrid and Monte-Carlo. They also clinched two
more titles in Houston, at the Queen’s Club in London and Vienna. They have accomplished a remarkable winning rate of 70% in finals this year.
Mike Bryan said that it’s always a special feeling to finish top at year-end and it feels much better than winning a Grand Slam because it shows your efforts and consistency throughout the season. Tennis is getting tougher day
by day and we are working really hard to keep pace with time.
There remarkable achievements throughout their career will be remembered for a long period of time.
