Bryan Brothers as well as Marcos Baghdatis win at Farmers Classic
The twenty five year old Cypriot tennis ace, Marcos Baghdatis in spite of low expectations won the second round match in at Farmers Classic by knocking down the wild card entry, Ryan Sweeting with a final match score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 on Wednesday. The success came as his first one since May. He did not play well in his last three grass court contests and therefore was craving for a victory since the clay court French Open tournament.
“It's been so long and I waited for more than one and a half month for a single success”, the right handed player informed the reporters after making his way into the quarter final round of his fifth ATP World Tour tournament of this season.
In another match, the American tennis ace, Sam Querrey also ended up as a winner in a late contest versus the South African tennis ace, Kevin Anderson with a final match score of 7-6 (8), 4-6, 6-0. Moreover, the Bryan’s also succeeded in their very first doubles clash.
After his French Open second round exit, Marcos fell down in the round number one at Halle. Following his early exits, the right handed Marcos performed poorly at the grass court Grand Slam tournament more recently at the All England Club.
Therefore, after a depressing season, Baghdatis who was previously a hard court Grand Slam finalist was extremely glad to succeed at the Farmers Classic yesterday.
“I came to Loss Angeles knowing that I wasn't going to be playing with full confidence”, Marcos said.
"However, I made up my mind even prior to the start of the tournament that I am going to fight till the last moment to my very best. I wasn’t feeling confident and it’s good to triumph at such low moments of your career. It has boosted up my confidence level and I am hoping to play even better in my upcoming matches”, he added.
The sixth-seeded Serbian tennis ace, Janko Tipsarevic also moved ahead by knocking down the Indian professional player Somdev Devvarman of India with a final match score of 7-6 (9), 6-2.
The top seeded player of the championship, the Brit number one tennis ace, Andy Murray will face Tim Smyczek, an American tennis player in his very first contest today. As far as Bryans’ side, who are just a single championship victory away from grabbing the most doubles trophies ever in the history of the game of tennis, are concerned, they also won their first match by knocking down Mark Knowles as well as Mardy Fish with a final match score of 6-3, 6-4 in a total of two sets. So far, the Bryans’ have won a total of sixty one championships all through their professional tennis career.
“Succeeding in a game without performing at my very best, Baghdatis commented on Wednesday, was a great moment”.
The wild card entry, Ryan Sweeting after his loss at the Los Angeles said that, “the setting of the match changed in the set number two as a result of Marcos greater swings as well as foot movements”, he added.
"I played pretty well in the set number one of the match," he said. "However, Baghdatis started to serve better after that. Although, I had opportunities afterwards as well but his serving did the trick for him in the end”.
The Bryans’ on the other hand, succeeded in their thirteenth consecutive match at the Straus Stadium.
"It was our very first competitive clash since the grass court Grand Slam tournament and thankfully we won”, said Mike Bryan after the match.
