Bryan Brothers commit to make a comeback at the Delray Beach – Tennis News
World number one duo of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan from the United States has confirmed that it will be playing the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships next season. The 20th edition of the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World
Tour 250 event will be held on the hard courts of Delray Beach, the United States, from 27th of February to 4th of March next year, offering a prize money of $442,500 for the contestants.
The Bryan Brothers have just finished off their 2011 ATP season as the top ranked doubles team among men, something they have achieved for a record seventh time. Bob and Mike have been victorious at the Delray Beach for two consecutive years, 2009 and 2010,
and they have confirmed their commitment to be a part of the event in the coming season as well.
The Bryans had a remarkable tennis season this year as well, which includes two prestigious Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open and the Wimbledon Championships, extending their Major title count to a record-tying 11. The two Americans have the distinction
of bagging the most doubles championship titles to their name with 75 trophies.
Bob and Mike remained invincible throughout the current year and secured eight tournament victories to finish on the top of the rankings by the end. However, the dominating duo fell in the semi-finals of the season ending grand finale, the Barclays ATP World
Tour Finals, to finish the circuit on a losing note. The Americans are determined to bag a lot more of championship titles next season and Delray Beach event will be a perfect opportunity to have one on their home soil. The Bryans missed out the 2011 edition
of Delray Beach international Tennis Championships but will step on the courts in front of their home crowd as the hot favourite for winning the event.
“The Bryans are favourites here in Delray Beach,” said ITC tournament director Mark Baron. “They've got game beyond the court. When they come to town they jam on our music stage and have a good time with the fans.”
The other American duo, Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram, will be defending their Delray Beach title, which they won this year by defeating the combination of Christopher Kas and Alexander Peya. The duo of former world number one, Andy Roddick and John Isner
will also headline the Delray Beach event alongside the Bryans, making the tournament more competitive than before.
