Bryan Brothers dismiss Marach/Zeballos to enter semis – French Open 2012
Former number one team, Bob and Mike Bryan, rallied past the Austrian-Argentinean duo, Oliver Marach and Horacio Zeballos, in a three-set thriller at the Roland Garros 2012 on Tuesday. They formulated a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory against their rivals to secure
a spot in the final four at this second of the four Grand Slam events held in France.
The second seeded American twins displayed their top class skills to outshine Marach and Zeballos in their first encounter. After earning the glory in one hour and 42 minutes, Bryans convincingly powered into the semi-finals at this major clay court tournament.
They clicked their first title here in 2003 and are currently 11-9 in the Grand Slam title rounds.
Bob and Mike Bryan thundered into the Court number one and reeled off the opening five games in a row before their opponents’ could hold on. They plucked their serve once more and pulled out the opener with a breadstick. The twins swiped their entire serves
without facing any barrier and cashed in both break chances to seal the opening set in 23 minutes.
The Austrian-Argentinean tandem on the other side of net re-focused their strategy and got back in action. They swiftly slid their entire serves without facing any real challenge from the veterans and got the breakthrough in the last game after capitalising
on one out of two break chances. Marach and Zeballos hit fewer errors and clinched the set with a 6-4 score line.
The match was hanging on a knife edge but the American brother sought their early ascendancy and jumped to a 3-0 lead with two breaks of serve. Despite losing their serve in the fourth game, they kept their remaining serves and pocketed the decider by winning
six games to four. Bryans amazingly warded off four out of five breakpoints they came across and converted two out of three break opportunities to their advantage.
Next in queue for the Americans are the 10th seeds, Pakistan’s Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Netherland’s Jean-Julien Rojer, who earned a 6-4, 2-1 retirement victory against the French-Serbian junction, Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic. Qureshi and
Rojer were leading a set and 2-1 when Llodra suffered a back injury.
