Bryan Brothers outclass the Murray Brothers in the second round – Monte Carlo Rolex Masters 2012
Rated at number three in the 2012 ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Doubles Team Rankings, the duo of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan won the highly anticipated contest against the British pair of Andy Murray
and Jamie Murray on Thursday. The top seed American duo took one hour and 29 minutes to dispose of the Murray Brothers in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, to move into the quarter-final round of the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters in an emphatic fashion.
Bob and Mike have already won a doubles championship title earlier this year and their impactful beginning to the Monte Carlo campaign hints their determination for bagging another one on these clay courts. The Americans were facing
Andy and Jamie for the first time and a lot of speculation was made about this combat of two teams of brothers. However, The Bryans kept the match fairly one-sided and dominated for most of the time to register a much needed victory.
Andy and Jamie had a decent start to the contest and gave some real tough time to the top seeded opponents earlier on. The Britons gradually tend to lose their steam in the later parts of the match and were found struggling to
earn points in the game. They missed out a number of vital opportunities in the match, which proved to be extremely taxing in the end and awarded victory to the deserving Bryan Brothers.
The American top seeds delivered 78 per cent of their first serve on target, pocketing 30 out of 51 points on it and winning 12 out of 36 return points in the match. They had nine break chances and converted six of them in their
favour, whilst the Murray brothers could merely register four out of their 10 break points to finish on the losing side.
While the Murray Brothers pack their bags for home, Bob and Mike will continue their voyage at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters campaign, featuring the quarter-final round on Friday. They will play against the fifth seed and the most
successful duo of the current season, Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek, in the round of eight.
