Bryan Flynn promises Wales will attack
Wales caretaker manager Bryan Flynn has insisted that his side will go on the offensive in their upcoming UEFA 2012 European Football Championship qualifying matches.
Flynn will lead his men into battle against Bulgaria at home on Friday (8 October) and in Basel against Switzerland on Tuesday. After losing to Montenegro in their first qualifying match, they are currently six points behind that side as well as England
and need to start picking up points.
As a result, Flynn — who has made the temporary step up from the youth set-up after John Toshack left the role by mutual consent — said that Wales have nothing to lose and everything to gain, so will be going all-out to overcome the challenge posed by Bulgaria
and grab all three points.
'Must-win game'
He told reporters that: “It is a must-win game. We have to do it – the team is set up to score goals. I said to the players, especially the forward players, they have got licence to thrill, to go and excite everybody. Our theme has been 'no fear, no doubts,
no hesitations' and preparation has been fantastic.  The emphasis will be on attack — we are at home, we need to win the game. The onus is on us to do that and I have set up the team to do that.”
Flynn has an added incentive for the side to perform well in the next two games — he has only been confirmed as manager for these matches and, if he wants to continue in the role he will have to impress with strong results.
He added that: “It is up to me to get the position and make an impression with performances and results. I have been told there will be an interview situation with a shortlist of candidates. I don't know how big the shortlist will be and that is all I know,
but I've got a head start."
