Bryan Habana up for England challenge – Rugby News Update
Bryan Habana, the 28-year-old South African winger is looking forward to the first test against England this Saturday, June 9. England is currently on tour to South Africa, where they will play a three-match test series, along with playing two other midweek
games.
Habana will be the most capped player for the Springboks when they take on England, having two more caps than the newly appointed captain of South Africa, Jean De Villiers.
The winger feels that come Saturday afternoon, the form book will go out of the window and a new look Springboks side will be ready for battle, even though Heyneke Meyer, the head coach has named nine uncapped players and six others who have less than 10
appearances for the national side.
"Come Saturday afternoon at Kings Park stadium - I think it is going to be a real titanic clash," he said. "I think the team that is willing to put their bodies on the line and want it more will come out victorious.”
The problem for South Africa is that they have only been together for a matter of days, while the visiting team have been in a training camp for the last two weeks. They are better prepared, and will know the game of all their colleagues before they take
the field for the first test.
Habana, however, feels that is not going to be a problem for the Springboks and it will not give visitors the upper hand.
He said, "The experience they have had as a team together during the Six Nations and in their preparations over the last two weeks is definitely going to benefit them, but I don't think it is going to make a difference.”
The Springboks have been playing in the Super Rugby for the last 14 weeks, and Habana feels this is really going to benefit them, as they know how to put their bodies on the line.
He said, “We have got an unbelievably talented group of youngsters who want to go out there and show how good they are...”
