Bryan LaHair excited as All-Star Game nears – MLB News
Bryan LaHair on Monday, July 2, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response after his selection for the All-Star Game. While fans continued to pour felicitations, he was more thankful to the former and contemporary players.
Willie Bloomquist was one of the players who came to him, congratulating and urging him for a powerful show in the much anticipated All-Star Game. LaHair was thankful for that kind gesture.
"Just the fact I got the respect like that from the players so soon and they respect my game and how I go about my business, I'm really thankful for that," LaHair said.
It is worthwhile to mention here that LaHair was faced with some very tough competitors for All-Star Game. The fact that the likes of Adam LaRoche and Paul Goldschmidt were among few of the peers competing for this slot made it all the more tough.
But at the end, deserving as all the players were, LaHair – owing to his magnificent performance this season got elected. The 29-year-old player, it goes without saying, has struggled greatly to be where he stands today.
The player has remained for nine long years in the Minor Leagues to make his way into the Major Leagues. 2012 was the first year for him to represent any big team in the Major League and he made maximum use of this rare opportunity in the career.
Such was his performance throughout the first half of the season that his name showed up prominently among the aspirants to get featured in the All-Star Game. He eventually made it.
The decision was to be announced on Sunday which he waited with bated breath.
"[Sunday] was a really weird feeling," LaHair said. "I went out in the dugout at the start of the game, and the first time the fans got loud, it kind of hit me -- 'I'm in a Major League ballpark right now, and they just told me I'm going to the All-Star Game.'"
His performance in the All-Star Game will be of great importance to see how the player achieves another milestone.
