Bryan brothers, Llodra/Zimonjic through to semi-final – China Open Men's Doubles 2011
World number one doubles team, Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan continued their impressive run on the hard courts of Beijing as they eased past Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic and Florian Mayer of Germany 6-0, 6-3 on Thursday to book a
place in semi-finals of 2011 China Open here at the National Tennis Center in China.
Top seeded at the Association of Tennis Professionals tournament, Bob and Mike are in commanding form since the start of this season. Having won the US Open title just a few weeks back, they are looking in very confident mood.
Bryan Brothers are one of the strongest doubles team in the history of tennis. With 74 ATP titles to their name, Bob and Mike have certainly registered their names in the list of greatest players of all time.
The American pair has won forty seven out of 58 matches they have played on the tour this season. And if they can continue their run believable run for another few days, they are surely on their way to lift their 75th
ATP title. Berdych and Mayer will be disappointed with their ordinary effort. The pair looked completely out of sorts on the court. Making a large number of unforced errors in the match, they made Bryan Brother’s job very easy.
Berdych is looking in supreme touch in the singles arena but his performances in the double’s world have not been up to the standard. He will be hoping to improve the basics of his doubles game play along with Mayer to achieve
better results in future fixtures.
Bryan brother looked on song right from the start of the contest. Breaking the serve thrice in the opening set, the bagged the set in a blink of an eye. Hitting serves aces and holding on to their service game points, the American
pair took complete control of the contest.
The second set was also dominated by Bob and Mike as they continued to apply pressure on the opposition team. Breaking the serve in eight game of the set, they nailed a crucial serve break to close out the match in straight sets.
In another match, number three seed team Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic defeated Marcel Granollers and Oliver Marach 6-1, 6-4 in straight sets to advance into semi-finals. Llodra/Zimonjic displayed some high quality tennis in
a match that lasted for only 1 hour and 2 minutes. Claiming 61 per cent of the total points, they were always in the driver’s seat in the match. They will be looking to continue their decent form in the round of four as well.
