Bryans rally past Qureshi/Rojer to enter semis – Western and Southern Open 2012

Second seeded American brothers, Bob and Mike Bryan, made an epic comeback from a set down to outlast the Pakistani-Dutch tandem, Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer, in three sets at the Western and Southern Open on Friday. They summed up a 4-6,
6-4, 10-4 victory against the eighth seeds to secure a spot in the final four at this outdoor hard court event held in Mason, Ohio.
The American twins stayed focused throughout the battle, eventually carving out the victory against Qureshi and Rojer in their fifth meeting. After earning the success in one hour and 14 minutes, the Bryans improved to a 4-1 record in the head-to-head series
against the Pakistani-Dutch junction and powered into the semi-finals at this Masters 1000 series.
Ranked seventh in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Doubles Rankings, Qureshi and Rojer enthusiastically entered the Lindner Family Tennis Center. They warded off the lone breakpoint they came across to keep their entire serves. The Pakistani-Dutch
duo got the breakthrough in the fifth game and clicked the opener with a 6-4 win.
Bob and Mike rebounded in the follow-up set despite suffering the first blow in the opening game. They were trailing 1-3 when they re-focused their strategy and snatched their break back in the sixth game. The Americans held their remaining serves and sealed
the equaliser with a 6-4 success after capitalising on another break chance in the last game.
The number one doubles team in the world, Bob and Mike maintained their intensity in the super tie-breaker. They cruised to a 5-1 lead in it before carving out the decider with a 10-4 score line.
The Bryans are bidding for their 82nd title and their sixth year-to-date at this Masters event. They formulated a higher first serve share of 63 per cent as opposed to their rivals’ 58 per cent and tremendously availed 29 out of 37 points on it.
Next up for the Americans are the fourth seeds, Sweden’s Robert Lindstedt and Romania’s Horia Tecau. The Swedish-Romanian junction eased past seventh seeded Spaniards, Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez, in straight sets to set up this battle.
