Bryans stomp over Benneteau/Mahut to enter semis – US Open 2012
Second seeded Americans, Bob and Mike Bryan, took down the French junction, Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut, in straight sets at the US Open 2012 on Wednesday. They nudged up a 7-6(2), 7-6(4) victory against the French veterans to power into the final
four at this last of the four Grand Slam events held in Queens, New York City.
The American twins showed top notch performance to outmuscle Benneteau and Mahut at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. After earning the fame in 93 minutes, the Bryans assertively secured a place in the semi-finals.
Bob and Mike high spiritedly entered the Grandstand stadium at this major hard court tournament. They drew the first blood in the second game and leaped to a 3-0 lead. Regardless of losing their edge in the seventh game, the Americans remained calm and took
the set to a tie-breaker. They jumped to a 5-1 lead in it before closing out the opener with a 7-6(2) win.
Bidding for their fourth title at the Flushing Meadows, Bob and Mike carried their rhythm in the following set. They smoothly held their entire serves with poise and prolonged the set to a tie-breaker. The twins prevailed in it and subsequently clinched
the set with a 7-6(4) score line.
Summing up performance of the American seeds, Bob and Mike showed perfect co-ordination. They withstood 11 aces and despite producing a slightly lower first serve share of 67 per cent as opposed to their rivals’ 68 per cent, the Americans marked 41 out of
51 points on it to dominate. They dusted away one out of two breakpoints they came across and converted one out of four break chances to their advantage.
Next in queue for the Bryans is the ninth seeded tandem, Pakistan’s Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Netherland Jean-Julien Rojer. The Pakistani-Dutch junction halted the local wild card entrants, Christian and Ryan Harrison, in straight sets to set up this meeting.
The fifth seeds, India’s Leander Paes and Czech Republic’s Radek Stepanek, also earned the limelight later that day. They triumphed over the Austrian-Slovak pair, Julian Knowle and Filip Polasek, in straight sets to progress.
