Bryce Harper excited to see Chipper Jones in his last appearance in All-Star game - MLB Update
The Washington Nationals’ trio of Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez has reached Kansas City to play the All-Star game. As they watched the Home Run Derby in the field, Harper was the one who attracted the spotlight. He was kind of being mobbed
by the reporters, who were hurling questions at him.
Answering one of the questions, he discussed how honoured he is feeling in being part of the extravaganzas, which feature the Atlanta Braves’ future Hall of Famer, Chipper Jones. He is so excited about Jones’ last All-Star outing as years pass, he said he
will be able to recall the day when he witnessed Chipper playing in the Midsummer Classic.
Explaining further, Harper expressed his desire to go back home during the break. However, attraction of watching Jones is more enticing and having star players around him on the day will be a special moment, he elaborated.
“I had Vegas on my mind for about four days before this,” Harper said. “That was on my mind. Being able to come here, and really be here for Chipper [Jones]’s last game will be something for the ages. I’ll be able to tell my kids I saw Chipper’s last game.
It’s just going to be fun to see all the different players and the fans. It’s going to be a blast."
Ever since, Harper has made his Major League Debut, his attitude has been down to earth. Earlier, when speculations were being made about the Final Vote balloting, which included Jones among the contenders, he commented that his vote will go for Jones. He
can be no way near to what Jones has been in his career, he had stated.
At the same time, he has been witty in responding to questions put by the reporters. There was no doubt that the young Harper was having a tremendous time in Kansas City. It is a dream come true for a player at such a young age to be surrounded by such high
quality star players.
Meanwhile, once Harper returns in the second half of the season, he will be having a big role to play for the Nationals.
He will like to continue putting up solid shows on the plate and help the club keep their top position on the Division table intact.
