  1. could you give us some more info as to why they wont let you connect? as that would help me answer the question

  2. Today there are numerous options for telephone service.  Look in your local 'yellow pages' under 'telephone companies'  to see who may be offering "dial tone" services in your area.  Besides the monopolistic companies who "own territory" like the Bell Telephone companies, there are alternatives available.

Most cable TV services have a telephone service.  Contacting their business office will get a quick answer whether they offer such service or not.

There are other alternatives using Voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology.  This requires at least a broadband service like DSL or cable modem from the traditional sources, although there are alternative companies for them as well.

Just remember, the local cable franchise and the local telephone franchise have the "last mile" as they provide the connection to your house or apartment.  You may not pay them for that directly, but they may have to send a technician should you ever need service.

  3. If you live in an area with cable, you could try Virgin Media, that's who I'm with.

  4. BT cannot really say no - they still have a licence obligation to connect telephone services, however they can ask you to pay for the connection costs, or in some circumstances ask for a deposit, before connection you.

I know this does not totally answer your question, but with the information we have that all I can do.

    Hope this helps?

  5. If you live in a city then you can often use virgin media's cable service, but then, if you have managed to do the impossible task of failing BTs credit check, then it's likely you'd fail everybody elses too.

  6. there is virgin media, they are doing great deals at the moment, also you may get a good deal if you just mention that you have also contacted BT, but don't tell them that they refused.
