Bubba Watson, “it’s all about the win”
Bubba Watson has resonated the views expressed by the Ian Poulter. The bomber said that, despite many of the Europeans now residing in States, the temperatures between the two teams will boil up during the Ryder Cup.
The players from both the teams were not as close as they are now. They are, in fact, very good friends. During the tours, they hang around together and even know their families. All this is due to the fact that many Europeans now play on the PGA Tour.
"It's funny, we're friends with all of them," the big-hitting left-hander said. "We've played golf with all of them for years. We know them all. We know their families”.
It was not like this about a decade ago. However, everybody knows that Ryder Cup is a special tournament and friendships are put aside during the three days.
"It's just that trophy, it's just that little trophy we want to win so bad. So it's really not a dislike for the other team. It's just a dislike for any opponent, no matter who the opponent is”.
Bubba knows that comments made by Ian Poulter were meant to be taken in a negative way. It is the trophy that is so special that everybody out there wants to win it.
"It's the little gold Ryder Cup is what we're trying to get, and again it doesn't matter who it is that I'm facing. If I was facing y'all or facing Poulter or facing Phil Mickelson, it's about winning the cup," said the current Masters Champion.
Watson was also impressed by Poulter’s story as a golfer.
Ian started off as a ball collector at the driving range. He also worked at the pro shop but his love for the game never died. Now, here he is, playing in the Ryder Cup. This is the Cup which every European and American dreams of.
Watson will be a key man for the Americans as the course is a bomber’s paradise, with very little roughs all around. His driving accuracy could prove to be curial if the Americans are to retake the Ryder Cup.
