Bubba Watson becomes a father officially, ahead of the PGA Championship
The reigning Masters champion Bubba Watson has completed all the paperwork regarding his son, Caleb, and is set to participate in the fourth major of the year, PGA Championship, being officially a dad.
Watson adopted his son on March 26, 2012, and had been working on the process since then. Moreover, he skipped many tournaments in order to give proper attention to the whole process and the documentation required.
"We had a lot of court things, a lot of paperwork to fill out," Watson told the Tribune Tuesday. "A lot of people go through it, but trying to travel across the U.S., trying to travel outside the country and playing golf made it a little bit more difficult.
But somehow it all worked out, and now we're parents, I guess".
He spent too much time with his family and took longer breaks from the PGA Tour, which caused him go out of his form even after a victory in this year’s first major championship.
"I just had to take care of that stuff and that was most important along with being there for my wife when she said she wished I was home," said Watson. "So I chose to do all those things and then golf obviously is way down the list of priorities. That came
first".
He admitted that he now needs to bring a balance between his playing career and his family life. He will have to play reasonable amount of tournaments in order to remain in contention for the top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings.
He said that he gives the most priority to his wife and then his son. The game of golf lists at the end when it comes to priorities for Watson.
Yet, he believes that he will have more confidence when he tees off at the PGA Championship this week because of the recent proceedings in his life.
According to him, he will now have extra time to practice and bring some improvements in his game. For the last four months, he has not been able to impress his fans, as he did at Augusta National.
Therefore, it will be interesting to watch him once again if he succeeds in returning to his form this week.
