Bubba Watson comments on Tiger Woods
American player,Bubba Watson, is currently playing the best golf any player from his country has recently displayed. Watson won his second PGA Title in 2011 when he claimed the Zurich Classic in New Orleans last weekend.
Being confident as he is, Watson didn’t think twice before commenting on the 14-times major championship winner, Tiger Woods.
“I’ll just go ahead and say it. I think Tiger is going the wrong way,” remarked Watson. “I just think he’s so mental right now with his swing. Just go out there and play golf. He used to hit shots, he used to bomb it, used to do all that stuff. In 2000 and
’97, I think he did pretty good. He won the Masters by 48 shots or whatever he won it by. I think sometimes he gets carried away on that. And a lot of guys do.”
The player won three times in the last year, whereas the last time Woods was victorious was at the Australian Masters in 2009. It was after this victory that the downfall of the player started.
Following a car crash, the news of Woods infidelity came out. Being caught up in scandals and
personal problems, the player wasn’t giving his best on the golf course.
With declining form, Wood’s number one rank was taken away from his as well. Last October, Lee Westwood displaced Woods from a rank that was his for five years.
Both the players well scheduled to tee off at the Wells Fargo Championship this coming weekend, but Woods opted out due to knee injury. Injuring himself in the Masters, Woods is taking a break to get physically fit. It is still not clear whether the player
will take part in the
Players Championship or not.
Watson also commented of Wood’s current coach, Sean Foley. He said that Foley isn’t the person Woods needs right now. Watson himself never really had a coach or mentor and taught himself all the golf he knows. As for the former world number one, he was mentored
by Butch Harmon first, then Hank Haney and now Foley.
Hopefully Woods doesn’t take Watson’s comments to heart and uses them to improve his form for upcoming tournaments.
