Bubba Watson dedicates the Masters victory to his newly-adopted son
The American Bubba Watson, who won his first Masters, dedicated the major victory to his newly-adopted son on Sunday, April 8, 2012.
He displayed an amazing performance at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. He defeated Louis Oosthuizen in a playoff mode, by making an early birdie.
Watson shot 69, 71, 70 and 68 in the four rounds of the tournaments. His impressive scores and appealing strokes took him to the leading position on the leaderboard.
Now he is ranked on the 4th position, according to the Official World Golf Rankings and 2nd on the FedEx Cup Rankings.
He has won four Professional Golf Association events in the past. Similarly, he has also finished two majors in the top-10 leaderboard position.
In the current year, he also secured the runner-up position in the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship. Hence, he has been playing well since January and also planning to go further.
Watson shared that this victory will be for his adopted son. The winner said that when the kid grows up, he will have something impressive to share with his friends.
After winning the title, the 33-year-old American returned to his son and is now spending most of the time at home.
Watson is married to Angie. They both are living a happy life and have adopted children for about four years now. They recently adopted a boy and Watson was so excited to be with him most of the time.
“It finally came to this winter that we could do it,” Watson said.
“We got turned down a couple times, but on the Tuesday of Bay Hill (three weeks ago) we got a call, on the Wednesday we made the decision and the Monday after we were down in South Florida, picking up little Caleb”.
He added, “I can’t wait to get back. I haven’t changed a diaper yet”.
Now, another PGA Tour staged tournament is about to start, the RBC Heritage. According to the reports, Watson is not in the field.
The field is set and RBC Heritage will be organised from April 12 to 15, at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
His absence from this tournament means a two-week rest at home. Watson has ample time left to spend with his wife, son and family.
