Bubba Watson fades on the final round at Lytham
The venue for the 141st British Open Championship was the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Course. The best in the world gathered at this prestigious stage to fight for the Claret Jug. The four-day event started from the 19th of July and
ended on the 22nd of July.
At the end of four days, there is only one winner and this year’s Championship was the South African professional golfer Ernie Els. The four days at the Lytham were filled with drama.
Many players were able to impress the spectators, while others failed. Bubba Watson is a player who started off very well, but unfortunately had a bad last round.
On the first day, Watson had four birdies and just a single bogey, this made his score three-under par. On the second day, he went three-over par with three bogeys and a double bogey in which he completed a par 5 in eight shots. Nonetheless, he had three
birdies for the day.
On the third day, he had six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. These made his score two-under par for the day.
After the three days at Lytham, Watson had a score of two -under par. He was very confident about his game and had one last day to play well.
In an interview after the third day, he said, “I'm still there. Gotta shoot a low round tomorrow. I'll keep it down. All in all, anytime you shoot under-par in the Open championship, it's pretty good”.
When Watson was asked about whether there are many other Americans on the leaderboard, he said, “I'd rather it be me on the leader board. I don't care who the other guys are”.
Watson was very confident before the final day. Unfortunately he was not able to deliver on the last day. On the front nine, he carded two bogeys and a birdie.
His back nine was much worse, as he carded four bogeys and one birdie. These made his score four-over par for the day and his total score climbed up to two-over par.
The American professional golfer was able to finish the tournament tied on the twenty third position, with seven other players.
