Tiger Woods may be the most followed golfer around the globe, he may attract more spectators in the stands but there is someone else too, whom the fans really love. That man is none other than Bubba Watson.
Bubba won the Masters Championship in April. That has been a reason for some of his popularity but there are many other reasons as well.
“There is no doubt. Bubba is one of the most popular players on the tour with golf fans,” said rules official, Mark Russell, following Sunday’s final round at East Lake.
“He is self taught. I have heard that he has never had a lesson in his life. Golf fans can really relate to a player like that. Bubba resonates with the man in the street”.
His name is a big attraction for the fans. Bubba is very emotional. He himself admitted that he is still learning to control his emotions.
When Watson won the Masters, he burst in to tears and he hugged his mother. This gesture of his was absolutely loved by the fans.
People in general like players who are emotional and who have something unique about their life.
When he adopted a baby, people loved that and congratulated him. Adopting a child is a noble cause. When he and his wife decided to adopt a baby, this act of theirs was applauded from people of all walks of life.
Generally, one would not see a star celebrity replying and thanking every fan personally. Well Bubba did that on Twitter after he won the major in April this year. That was a classy act.
Watson might be a professional golfer but he is certainly not one who would control his desires. He loves fast food, cheese burgers, hamburgers and the like.
One does not expect a professional sportsman to be so indulgent in food, as they are very particular about their diets. Nevertheless, that too is something unique about Bubba Watson.
