Bubba Watson’s memorable season comes to an end
Bubba Watson, an American golf professional, is one of the most popular figures on the Professional Golf Association Tour, more because of his antics than his golf.
The tall American star turned professional in 2003 and has played only on the Professional Golf Association Tour.
Before coming into the professional circuit, Watson played for his college and university. He has been associated with golf since his early years, playing on the team of Milton High School.
When the golfer joined the professional circuit, he did not immediately join the PGA Tour. For the first two years of his professional status, the American played on the Nationwide Tour.
In 2005, Watson finished 21st on the Nationwide Tour’s Money list and qualified to play on the PGA Tour.
Watson has had a memorable 2012 season. He won his first major championship title during the year when he won the Masters Tournament. He started the last day of the tournament at six-under-par which put him three strokes behind the leader, Peter Hanson.
From then on, the American golfer raised the level of his game and went on to clinch the first major championship title of his career.
Most of the golfers, who stole the show in the 2011 season, failed to perform well on the PGA Tour.
Watson capitalised on their loss and played one excellent tournament after another.
He started a charity foundation with the help of his sponsors Ping. Both the parties worked side by side, helping them raise $250,000 for a hospital.
Watson used a pink driver during the year, which symbolised the good cause. There were 5000 limited edition drivers made and out of every sale of the driver, a certain amount of money used to go for charity.
With so many golfers on the Tour determined to make their mark, the field is getting tighter as the competition is increasing.
Watson played magnificently throughout the year and has made his place on the Tour with a major championship win.
As the new season is about to start, there will be golfers from all over the world determined to win tournaments. Therefore the PGA titan will have to rise to the occasion and impress his fans.
