Bubbly Rocky set for a rocking performance in 2012 Track Bookmakers Puppy Derby Round 1 Heat 12 at Harold’s Cross
Bubbly Rocky’s last few trips suggest that he can stand first in the 2012 Track Bookmakers Puppy Derby Round 1 Heat 12 at Harold’s Cross on Friday, September 07, 2012.
Luck did not smile on him, when he made his debut in late July. In a 525 yards contest, the black dog could not handle the situation wisely and as a result, finished third in the list.
He did not push the panic button, and learnt a good lesson from his mistake. The black dog came up with an improved act next time, and got off the mark in a sublime fashion.
Despite getting bumped at the first bend, the son of Droopys Vieri ensured a strong run. His late surge guided him to a close neck-distance victory.
The novice did not race last month, but made a couple of fine solo outings to keep his heels hot. In his latest trial race, the maverick hound covered the distance in just 28.61 seconds.
If he delivers a similar performance in today’s big meeting, he will not face any difficulty whatsoever in bagging the big prize. There are plenty of things in his favour, but still a flawless effort is required on his part, as he has some giants to beat.
Other hounds in the pack are: Ballycowen Hero, Liscahane Shaw, Paradise Gilroy, Royal Scholar and Starlight Kevin. Just like all other first-round races, this heat carries a cash prize worth €125. It is due to get started at 22:30 GMT.
Starlight Kevin is not in good form these days, and will not be able to attract many punters. Similar is the case with Ballycowen Hero.
Paradise Gilroy is yet to make an impact at the top level. He might have to wait for a better draw.
Royal Scholar is in decent form, but maintaining the same standards at this level is a tough thing to expect from him. Liscahane Shaw needs a lot of luck to come out of his lean patch.
Ballycowen Hero’s experience looks to be the only threat to Bubbly Rocky. Other than that, it is a straightforward race for him. Good luck to all the hounds.
