Bubbly Swallow, a convincing entry for the Bedford Road Stayers on 23rd February
Henlow will become home for the Bedford Road Stayers which will be raced over 692 metres on Thursday, 23rd February. The race with £175 prize money has attracted a lineup of six hounds. Loughside Joe, Mountjoy Orion, Blackrose Monach, Bubbly Swallow, Blue Anchor and Swift Julie will battle for the wire today.
The two-year-old Bubbly Swallow, Droopys Vieri’s daughter out of b***h Westmead Aoifa, posted her seasonal debut win through the very first time she raced in 2012.
Bubbly Swallow won the January Maiden Stayers on 12th January at Henlow for which she was entered as a 2/7 favourite. She went through the 692 metre track in 43.83 seconds, leading by four lengths.
In her next three starts, Bubbly Swallow maintained her ranking nowhere below the third position, finishing as a runner up in one of the three races.
On 18th February, Bubbly Swallow won the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket Invitation Stakes at Crayford. The 6/4 favourite of the race was on the other side of the wire in 23.85 seconds with 4 ½ lengths’ lead.
She has been sent as a favourite thrice during the six times she raced in 2012. She has all the chances of dominating the field and getting entered as a favourite today.
Another competent hound on the lineup is Swift Julie, Kinloch Brae’s four-year-old daughter out of b***h Ladys Best Lass. Today will be her third outing of the 2012 season for which she already recorded a victory on 13th January.
Swift Julie took the ½ length’s advantage and was through the wire in 29.94 seconds over the track distance of 483 metres. She ended up as a runner up in the second start of the season when she clocked the 661 metres distance in 41.72 seconds on 17th February at Doncaster.
Swift Julie’s final start for the previous year resulted in a win too. She covered the 483 metres in 29.89 seconds on 3rd December at Doncaster.
Three-year-old Blackrose Monach, Head Bound’s son out of b***h Dear Prudence, has stretched her second position through the four starts that she has made. From 26th January to 18th February, Blackrose Monach has stuck with the same position.
She has not posted a victory in 2012 yet and today just might be her chance to break away from the monotony.
