Aleksandr Bubnov holds Spartak Moscow’s athletic director equally responsible for the Russian Premier League club’s failure to meet the desired expectations
Spartak Moscow 5-1 defeat in the Russian Premier League at Luzhniki stadium on Sunday cost Unai Emery his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
The Spanish tactician, who moved to the Russia after leaving Mestalla stadium this summer, remained at Moscow barely six months after the club terminated his two-year contract on mutual consent.
Emery paid the price for a slow start to the league campaign this season and held responsible for Spartak’s failure to progress from the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Currently, Spartak are at the 7th spot on the league table with 29 points after 17 league meetings.
As for now, Valery Karpin has taken over the managerial position after replacing the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-CF-c40864 boss. However, the Moscow-based club have not confirmed that whether they will stick with the former Real Sociedad man for
the rest of the season or not.
Aleksandr Bubnov has endorsed Fedun’s decision to axe Emery and fired a barb at Karpin, insisting that the 43-year-old is equally responsible for the team’s failure as he played a vital role in bringing Emery to Moscow.
“I think Karpin is fully responsible for everything that is happening now at Spartak. He invited Emery to the team after a careful selection. I think Emery was just a puppet in the process. So, I have to put the blame on Karpin
once again.”
“And Karpin has not made a mistake the first time in his career. I think that he should lead the team in the game for the remaining two rounds and then leave just like Emery.”
“The main problem of the red and white is not a coach. They are lacking competent athletic director," the Soviet Cup Winner was quoted as saying.
News in Russian media suggests that Leonid Fedun, the club’s billionaire owner, is talking to ex- Krylia Sovetov Samara head coach, Andrey Kobelev, regarding the vacant managerial position.
However, it is still unclear whether the club has approached Kobelev or the 57-year-old manager is ready for bigger challenge.
