yeah, yeah, im exposing myself to lots of abuse by the haters...

But I think is awesome news and he will do a great job at Channel 7 this year - starting with Collingwood's game in Dubai.

He looked so thrilled on the news this evening, but the re-enactment of the signing of the contract was sooo cheesy!

  1. He should go well

We get a lot of Michael Voss up here and sometimes when he's commentating you can tell he's holding back

He might say "They need to put more pressure on Joe Bloggs"

when he really means" Someone should take him out he's killing em"

You should see him squirm when on the sports news describing a win against Brisbane!

I reckon Buckley will do the same

If he commentates half as good as he played footy he'll do just fine

  2. Bruce will think its special no doubt, however 7 is in desperate need of some real, and new talent.    I heard Bucks on a radio interview recently and he sounded fantastic, relaxed , jovial , witty , and extremely informative.      It was obvious  with the shackles released from the Magpies captaincy, he was not limited in what he could say etc.    With his background and experience in the game It will be interesting and refreshing to hear his thoughts on all players, and his ideas on the strategies of play etc.

  3. He has the personality of a cereal box.

I'm turning over to nine or ten......

  4. Gee Eddie wont be to happy bout that

  5. his career will die

Chanel 7 will go further in bad coverage than 2007

  6. Yes I heard!!!!

I thought of you straight away!!!  lol

He said Eddie did give him an offer, but said sometimes your personal life has to over take your friendships.

He said Eddie understood and are still best mates..with a giggle at the end.lol

    I'm wrapt for him!!!!

  7. I haven't seen the news.

I love Nathan, he will do a great job.

He's certainly a little better on the eyes than other commentators!!

    No abuse here honey xx

  8. Yeah, he's an ex pie, but so what! At least it's some fresh blood in the commentary team at 7.

Hopefully now they will start removing some of the dead wood that's piling up over there, i:e blokes who hold no relevance in todays game.

  9. Oh that's so special Bruce.  I think its just wonderful!!!

My dreams have come true, I can see it now:

"geez yar a fairy Bruce, why don't ya loosen ya jockstrap mate"

The whole Bill Lawry/Tony Grieg scenario revisited with a twist of g*y!! The Twelfth Man will have a field day!

  10. Not a collingwood supporter , but I think he will make Channel 7 coverage more watchable, as he is a very experienced man and knows a lot about the sport.

I wish him all the best!

  11. His great in front of the camera

  12. hate the pies but i think bucks will bring commentary that is actually worth listening to,he's fresh out of the modern game, experienced in footy and media (footy show, nova) and will be a good change from the duds like Bruce that 7 have on now

  13. Personally i think it would be a good experience for him. Go Buckley go :)

  14. Is it true, Eddie was rushed to Hospital when he heard the news?

  15. Buckley will do well

and even better when he takes over from mighty mick

  16. he is a legend but its a shame we wont see him on the footy show any more

  17. Ah some intelligent commentary on seven at last good deal.

  18. Think it's a good thing, a year off but doing commentary and expert comments, the coaching staff and the boards from other clubs will be keen to hear what he has to see especially if he's going to go on as a coach in the future.

I'm sure he'll do a great job, best of luck to him

  19. I have not seen and heard the news yet, but personally I think Buck's will do a great job, he has the charisma and he certainately knows what footy is all about. I just hope he doesn't get the Bruce McAveney  disease, and just ramble on about stats over the duration of the game.

Poor Eddie, he lost his favourite "SON".
