Bucky Lasek to miss the Vans Pro-tec Pool Party due to ankle injury – Extreme Sports News
Professional skateboarder, Bucky Lasek, is going to miss the upcoming Vans Pro-tec Pool Party, due to an ankle injury that he recently sustained while filming for a GoPro commercial in his private backyard bowl, referred to as ‘Heaven’.
The 38-year-old American ended up with a broken ankle due to the accident. Talking to a journalist of a leading sports network, the Maryland-based action sports athlete said, “I was filming this GoPro commercial up in my bowl. And I had cameras all over
me so when I fell I was fumbling and tried to save the cameras, landed kind of low and put my foot down and just snapped it.”
According to the medical reports, Lasek has ended-up fracturing a bone just outside his ankle known as the lateral malleolus bone. According to him, it would take about four to six weeks for Lasek to recover and return to the sport.
Unfortunately for skateboarding fans, he will not be able to compete in the seventh edition of the Vans Pro-tec Pool Party that is scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 21, in the replica Combi Bowl at Vans Skatepark, situated in Orange, California.
Pro-tec Pool Party is presented by Rockstar Energy Drink and will feature 40 of the top dogs of the sport competing for a slice of the prize purse, which exceeds $100,000, in one of the world’s most intimidating bowl. Lasek had clinched the title in both
the previous editions of the event.
Lasek is one of the most respectable names in the snowboarding community and is tied with Canada’s Pierre-Luc Gagnon, more commonly known as PLG, for the most X Games Vert gold medals. Both skateboarders currently have four gold medals to their names. Maryland-based
skateboarder, Lasek has won 13 X Games medals to date.
Lasek’s participation in the 17th X Games depends entirely on his recovery from the ankle injury. With ample time left for the mega-event to start, it is likely that we will get to see the star skateboarder in action.
