Bucs Coach Raheem Morris remains defiant in face of potential sacking - NFL News
Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bottom of the National Football Conference South Division and have lost nine-games in a row to leave Coach Raheem Morris flirting with the sack.
The Coach however, still remains defiant and wants to remain in the hot seat to guide this young Bucs side to a better 2012 season.
"I'm probably the most mentally tough person you could ever be around," Morris said Tuesday, "I grew up around three uncles who were all older than me, and they beat the c**p out of me every single day. Eventually, I became the little big guy. That's why
I thank my uncles for building that type of character in me. At one point, we'll be the big boys on the block."
The 2010 runner up for Coach of the Year award has had a horrendous 2011 season. The Bucs started off the season well going 4-2 but since have failed to record a single victory over any opponent as his team continues to make baffling mistakes.
The Bucs are the youngest team in the National Football League and the inexperience has shown glaringly in each of the team’s defeats as they lost winnable games with big margins.
Morris though does not want to be comforted by others about his predicament preferring instead to continue to find solutions to the team’s problems on his own.
"Don't give me the 'Hang in there' call. Let me fight my way through it with my guys, with the people in this building. I don't need to start feeling sorry for myself."
The Buccaneers latest loss against division rivals Carolina Panthers saw the team show its worst side as Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newton ripped them apart leading Panthers to a 48-16 win. Newton threw for 171 yards for three passing touchdowns while
also scoring a wonderful 49-yard rushing touchdown.
The loss comes on the back of some poor performances with the Bucs allowing their opponents to outscore them 120-45 over the last three games. Even Jacksonville Jaguars had one of their best nights against the Bucs winning 41-14 in their game week 14 encounter.
There have been rumours circulating that the players are not performing to their full potential and do not want Raheem Morris to remain the Coach but recent statements from some players have tried to quell that notion.
The Bucs will look to finish the season on a high in their last game of the regular season against Atlanta Falcons but that task will not be easy against a Falcons side on the top of its game.
