Bud Selig aware of fans anger due to mega trade between Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays-MLB
Major League Baseball Commissioner, Bud Selig is conscious of the exasperation of the fans in South Florida due to the blockbuster trade deal between Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays.
The deal is under consideration of him and is seeking his approval. He confronts a dilemma after the reports relating to the trade have resulted in fury of the fans across the city.
Selig has to make sure that whatever happens owing to the trade should be in the best interest of the game.
It will be interesting to see as to whether he feels letting both clubs go ahead with the deal is good or stopping them from doing it can serve the purpose in a better way.
As far as the trade is concerned, it involves departure of star players from the Marlins’ roster.
After the deal, the players left on their roster will most probably be unable to make the Marlins a competitive unit at the Major League level. Fans belonging to the team cannot accept this reality.
They want to see their club having quality players on their roster so that they have reasons to expect something big from the team next year.
Unfortunately, their hopes will almost be eliminated after the conclusion of the deal.
Selig appears to be receptive of the idea of this massive trade as he claims that he will consider various factors before he reaches any conclusion in this regard.
While he respects fans and their worries, he does not give any indication that he will abort the deal.
“People have different views of that as to what you should do and how you should do it, but I think I’ve been able to come through all these situations and the sport’s been stronger and better as a result,” he said.
Furthermore, Selig maintains that it is difficult for him to make any decision in this regard.
“So when I say I have this matter under review and I’ve talked to a lot of our people and I’ve spent a lot of time here in between all the other meetings — this is a tough place to do it — that’s exactly what I mean,” Selig stated.
It will be hoped that fans across the South Florida community are happy after Selig unveils his verdict regarding the trade.
