Now that I have given up on being the perfect Hindu (if such a thing exists) and decided to just worship God (Lord Shiva), should I start practicing Zen Buddhism again, like I wanted to in the first place?

What do you think? I haven't talked with my Zen teacher for a few Months... will he take me back?

  1. The quest for "perfection" remains one of the biggest hurdles to spiritual development.

It taints every effort to stay present in *this* moment, because it always implies that this moment is not okay.

I wrote about this very topic just a few days ago on my blog:  http://www.oxherding.com/my_weblog/2008/...

The idea of perfection is simply an overlay. It's like putting cheap plastic veneer on top of a beautiful mahogany table.

When we can truly see the mahogany table for what it is -- with the spots and scratches and cup-marks -- then we enter the world of true perfection.

Everything is just as it is. How could it be any different?

Teachers understand that students wander around. Teachers wander around themselves. No problem. Our work as human beings is simply to try, try try -- non-stop.

  2. Sure he/she will.

    Why not?

Everybody has own reasons, why to attend or not

    I´d say, go for it

  3. If Zen Buddhism is something you really enjoy, then I would say you should get back into it.  You are always happier doing what you enjoy.

  4. U r lost in a big Ocean. your teacher will take u back if he really is a teacher. Try to understand what is what. and there is nothing different Between Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism whatsoever. Try n get the teacher to explain the difference.

  5. You are free to try whatever you want to.Zen is great. You can forget Shiva also, he doesn't mind because Hinduism is not a religion but what you left behind is called Sanatan Dharma which is a very tolerant one and there they have no such hard and fast rules of worship. I do not know of any perfect Hindu! Belief in the One is the only true religion! That One can be called as Brahman, Allah, Jehovah or whatever!

  6. You practised Zen Buddhism before? Why left in the first place?

Why bother your Zen teacher will take you back or not? Why not you who should bother to take him back or not? The true nature of Zen is the enlightenment itself, the so call "Heart Stamp of the Buddhas", not about teachers. Teachers ain't enlightened either.

Why don't you choose vajra buddhism? It should be the perfect solution if you are on the edge of don't know Shiva or Zen to choose.

I suggest True Buddha School. They got Chinese stuff of Taoism too.
