Well I am 14 years old and I suffer from depression, head aches, and stuff. I have tried some other medication, including Prozac, i couldn't tell you any others. Anyway, about a week ago I was put on a 25 mg script of Topamax and Budeprion SR...and today it's getting bumped up to 100 mg. My psychiatrist wants me loose weight with this combination also. Is anyone else taking this combination, or one or the other and could tell me a little bit about their expericences, such as side effects and such? It would be appreciated.

  1. They are okay to be taken together but Budeprion SR is for adults only and not someone of your age. Don't eat them even if your doctor says it's okay because there have been no medical research done of it's effects on childern and teenagers. It can seriously harm You.

Anyhow, Topamax is okay for You to take and continue with that medication. The symptoms of It's side effects are as following:

    Psychomotor slowing

    Memory problems

    Fatigue

    Confusion

    Somnolence

    Headache

    Paresthesia (numbness & tingling)

    Upper respiratory tract infection

    Diarrhea

    Nausea

    Somnolence

    Anorexia

    Insomnia

    Memory problems

    Dizziness

Kidney stones & Kidney failure ( some cases )

And now, I will give You 3 kind of advices:

    1. Try not to get your medication increased ( be it of any kind ) because in a long run it will just harm You and in the case of antidepressants it will turn You into a zombie. Try to have your mind relaxed and concentrate on cheerful things. Watch a nice movie, switch tv channels till you find your right channel. Hey it's summer. Go out and walk if nothing else to do. Do You have a pet ? How about getting a parrot ? Ever thought of writing a novel ?

Basically, there are many things that You can do and love doing it.

    2. Go to a dietician or a nutritionist is even better. Get yourself a proper daily diet guide. Also, exercise. It will change your whole personality in a positive way.

    3. Third advice and the most important, change your psychiatrist to a psychologist ( only Psychologist and Neurologist can prescribe mental medications and not a psychiatrist or your family doctor ) By The Way, your psychiatrist needs those medications ( Budeprion SR ) more than You do. Seriously, doctors are not always right ! As a consequence each year hundreds of thousand of people die, directly or indirectly caused by the lack of attention or knowledge of a doctor.

Now I wish You a very good health and hope You be fine and much better soon.

All The Best To You !
