Budget for a Europe trip.?

I have a $10,000 budget for a trip to Europe with just myself to pay for. I am going to London, Berlin, and Amsterdam, probably staying about a week at each. I worked this out to be 1,672 GBP for London, 2,111 euros for Berlin and 2,111 euros for Amsterdam. I am 17 now but I will be 18 when I take the trip (so I can drink in all countries and purchase marijuana in Amsterdam.) What types of activities should I do to keep myself busy. I am probably going with a buddy or two.

  1. If you just want a week in each of those three cities, you can travel very comfortably for a fraction of that budget.  There are a lot of cheap but still decent hotels in each of those cities, and you shouldn't have to pay more than $70 for a single room or $100 for a double (and most places will put a cot in a double room for free or for a nominal amount).  Hostels are even cheaper, and you may prefer them so that you can meet people - they are typically $15-30 per person.  And you don't need to spend a lot of money to get good food - all three of those cities have a lot of excellent cheap ethnic restaurants (especially Indian in London, Turkish in Berlin, and Indonesian in Amsterdam), and you can sample high-quality traditional British, German, or Dutch food inexpensively also.

There is so much to see in all three of those cities in terms of historical sights, art and history museums, beautiful architecture, and interesting neighborhoods.  London also has a massive theater scene.  Berlin has many places to see that reflect on the n**i and Communist eras and the Cold War.  Aside from the hash bars, Amsterdam has some great art museums, and you should consider some day trips to smaller Dutch towns to see another side of the Netherlands.

  2. $10,000 will go a long way.  just take care not to get ripped off when you're drunk and high.

  3. Wow sounds like that will be a good trip. I only had half that much money and spent 2 months all over Europe!!  Anyway, in Berlin apart from great nightlife I did a guided tour of the city which was the best tour I ever took in Europe... it was free and ran off tips. We also took a tour of the sachsenhausen concentration camp which was really emotional but so informative. In Amsterdam we went to the s*x musuem (hilarious) and also Anne Frank Musuem is there which is great to see. There is also the Heineken Brewery which i didn't go to but I talked to lots of people who did and they said it was great.  In London we just got a map and walked around looking at the sights ourselves and found our way to the clubs at night. There is probably SO much more you can find to do, but it looks as though your budget is much larger than mine was. so good luck, you will have a blast!
