Budgeting & saving more money.

I would like to start saving more money. I attend school full time on top of working a full time job it can get stressful at times but i definitely need the money. I live at home with my parents & my bills consist of:

Cell phone : $50

Car note: $250

Insurance:$200

Tuition: $200

I do receive financial aid but its about enough to cover my books, my parents make too much money so I don't get much at all.

I work as an administrative assistant Monday-Friday 7am-3pm & i make $13 an hour. I attend evening classes from 6pm-9pm Monday-Friday as well. My income every two weeks after taxes is about $880 so one of my paychecks can cover all my bills. Whats a good way to save money? I opened an ING DIRECT orange savings account last year and i have about $1200 in there right now but I should have alot more money in there considering what my bills are. Gas is a big expensive because my job is about 30 minutes from my house, my school is about 10 minutes from my house. My job offers free bus passes but I would have to get on the bus at like 530am just to get to work by 7am because of the city differentials and changing buses and what not.

What are some ways to save money? By next summer I want to have a nice amount saved up. Should I start saving a set amount of money each month?

  1. put another bill on your list; yourself and pay that bill first say $200. that is $100 per check.  you did not budget your gas allowance.  you should.  you seem to be spending on other things you don't have any rent to pay living at home.  try taking the bus 2 to 3 times per week. that will save gas money. hope this helps; good luck
