Budgie Breeding Help!?

Hi,

I have started breeding budgies, and am breeding them in breeding cages. And have two types i have the exhibition budgies and pet budgies. Well the pet budgies are breeding and all the eggs are fertile but all the eggs from the exhibition budgies are infertile.

The pet budgies were all bonded but the exibition budgies weren't, so would i be better adding the nest box after a week or so instead of placing it straight in? To make sure that the pair get to know each other before going to nest.

  1. You have just proven my point about American vs English budgies. The English suffer from high infertility vs American keets having six to eight babies per nest.

  2. It is always best to let 2 birds get to know each other first before encouraging them to breed by giving them a nest.

Take it out for 2 weeks and let them just play.

The first clutch of eggs may not be fertile.
