Question:

Budgie a male or a female?!?

I thought my budgie, Stuart was a male.

I thought this because he always bobs his head at the cockatiel, [who is not interested in the least!] tries to feed the cockatiel, is a very loud and arcobatic and copies almost all the sounds i make to her!

[she can make the kiss sound, click sound, wolf whistle, this weird "WEEYAAAHH" thing, and she screams "WOOO!" when she gets excited.]

But then it's cere changed dark purple-brown. A few days after that, the brown peeled off and there was a pink [i mean PINK] cere.

A while after, i got her a friend because the cockatiel hates her and her friend is not tame but he sits on my finger. I put her in the new budgie's cage and then a day later her cere turned brown again and is to this day! NOW he/she's head bobbing, fluffing up the front of her head and giving a type of 'kiss' that involves her getting really close to my face and sometimes clacking her beak lightly against my mouth or the other bird's beaks.

IS HE/SHE MALE OR FEMALE?! D:

  1. if the cere is a pinky brown colour then its a girl, if its purple blue then its a boy. the darker the cere the more ready they are to be mated...i guess thats how you put it. When the bird is off season the cere should go a really really pale colour and in girls it might even go a purpley blue colour.

the colour in the eye will only ever determine the age of the bird. and all black eye is less than 3 months, black with a brown ring is 4-6months and a grey ring is 7months or older.

not all birds will have the ring in their eye. it depends on the colouring of the bird.

your budgie is definitely a female going by that pic
