i took her to the "bird store" owner. this lady has been working with birds her entire life, and she couldn't locate the blood feather, it was so tiny. it didn't get plucked, but it is packed. i'm aware of how serious this could be. how long does it take for feathers to grow...and how long will i have to watch her so closely? it's hard to sleep, to leave her to go anywhere, as i know it can start bleeding again easily, and she could easily bleed to death.

help? what should i do? she isn't bleeding now, but the blood feather, we can't get rid of it. are we going to lose her? is it possible to wait till the feather grows so we can pluck it? it's located on the edge of her wing, where the feathers are SO tiny. if the owner can't find it..that's not good. she knows her birds.

taking her to a bird vet is an obvious answer, i know. that isn't an option till this coming friday evening.

no money. : (

  1. If it starts bleeing again apply flour or cornstarch to the general area where the blood is coming from, this should stop the bleeding. If it doesn't stop immediately apply a little bit more. It doesn't always stop it the iinstant you put it on, but it will in a matter of seconds. If a lot of blood is coming out, then you have no choice but to take it to the vet.
