  1. The amount of eggs the mother lays verries. Usually three or more. I've had as much as thirteen once. And breeding is actually kind of hard, depending on how much effort you put into it.

    Good luck!

  2. In my experience most birds will lay 5-6 eggs most times a few will hatch maybe 1 or 2 will not. Birds laying need extra vitamins and an excellent diet so be sure to give her processed egg food as well as greens to keep her healthy while nesting. Provide them with a nest box or a woven enclosed nest. Be sure to give them extra nesting material, yarn/hair/shredded paper/feathers, etc. He will choose special items and dance for her to entice her to breed. He wants to show her what a good man he will be. It's fun and interesting to watch them interact. Good luck and don't be disheartened if it's not successful the first time. It takes them time to learn.

  3. I have bred budgies before AND THEY DON'T USE NESTING MATERIAL AT ALL. A nest box has a simple concave area on the floor to keep the eggs together and to help stop them rolling around on the floor. In the wild here in Australia they nest in tree hollows, the floor of the nest is just decaying timber that is already in the hollow; usually caused by termites. If you can get some of that then use it as it also aids in humidity.
