Budgie breeding question!help!?

first of all ive had a male lutino budgie for about a week now she is starting to gain my trust pretty good still a little flippy in the edges but she seems bored so i wanna give it a mate...and plus ive always wanted to breed birds and here's my chance!i have some questions...do you have to have a breeding box?how soon can you pick up the chicks and feed them your own because i wanna raise one from real young so it can love me and trust me faithfully,and do you have to seperate the male from the chicks and female when the hatchlings are born?please help me with these questions please?

  1. Yes, you need a breeding box for budgies to breed. It makes the female feel secure and provides a warm, safe environment for the eggs. You shouldn't handle the chicks until they emerge from the breeding box, just let the mum tend them. I wouldn't recommend hand rearing the first time. To do that you need to completely seperate the chicks from the parents and raise them in a humidified chamber, feeding them around the clock every few hours. Generally you shouldn't need to seperate the male and female after the eggs hatch.

    I'd wait longer before breeding your birds. You should wait a month to see if your current bird (male/female? you say he and she) to settle in and see if she's healthy. Any news birds should also be given time to settle in and calm down. Toys and company would be a much easier way to entertain her in the short term.
