Question:

Budgie has something on her nostril?

My budgie hen is about 2-3 years old and she recently developed something on her nostril. It is blocking it up and it is black.

Anyone know what this is? It is starting to worry me. I want straight answers though, not just "TAKE HER TO THE VET!"

What is it?

  1. "Take her to the vet" is about as straight an answer as you can get, especially since you are worried about it.  If she has an upper respiratory infection she'll need to be put on antibiotics to clear it up.

If you don't want to take her to the vet to rule that out you risk compromising her health, especially if this black thing and the blockage are causing problems for her breathing or other symptoms.

I'm sorry this is not what you want in an answer but it's the most responsible action you can take for the bird's sake.

  2. Budgie hen? Well I think it is developing an infection or a disease. You can also call a store that specializes in birds and they probably could tell you. If all else fails, TAKE HER TO THE VET.

  3. Its dirt. I think you can bathe her first and see if it works if not, you really have to take her to the vet.
