Budgie help?!?!?!?

i have a budgie who pants sometimes. she opens her mouth and pants like a dog would. i would really lke to know what to do?

If she pants right after she flies, then it's probably for the same reason people pant after they have a good run. If it happens after you've been petting her then you probably have her keyed up, mating-wise (try to only pet her head; petting a bird's body is often interpreted as "flirting"). But if she's just sitting there in her cage, panting, you'd better take her to the vet--that could indicate that she has respiratory problems of some kind.

If that's the case, make sure you don't use nonstick cookware, scented candles, air fresheners, disinfectant sprays, oven cleaners, or basically any kind of sprays with the bird in the house--birds have extremely delicate respiratory systems and this kind of thing can kill them. Even though this may have nothing to do with whatever is going on with your bird, you still don't want to kill her by mistake, and you don't want to potentially make an already existing problem worse.

Do you exercise her before she pants? She could be over simulated. Or she could be sick, if that is the case take her to a vet immediately!!
