Hi,My 7 year old female budgie has been losing feathers on her belly for about a year. The skin has always been a bit more red than I would like but a regular and avian vet didn't seem concerned. She recerntly laid 2 eggs and has been lying on them so I figure she's lost a few more feathers for the skin-to-egg-contact... but the skin that is exposed is closer to her vent than to her chest and today it looks beat red. It is safe to put polysporin or liquid silver - maybe even fresh aloe? I'd like to try this before running to the vet again ... I just lost my other budgie (my current budgie's amte) to an operation to remove a cancerous tumour and I would like advice before returning to the vet. So basically - red, exposed skin near the bottom of her belly area - no signs of any crusties or mites or anything weird - just very red in colour. Thanks!
