Budgie withered looking wing feather?

Found Lucky in wild. well he found me. He was being attacked by flock of birds.

His feathers were okay. Gave him to friends who have female budgie. After a few days with new bird he suddenly appeared with one of his main wing feathers badly mutitlated. I assumed she had chewed it up fighting and it would straighten. Just wondering if it's from injury or from disease or lacking something, as it has been several months now and the feather is still sticking up outta place looking mangled

  1. Just gently pull it out, just be careful not to rip  the skin.

  2. It is from injury. The two must have fought before this happened.

My budgies fought for many times when they were little and once in a blue moon, this would happen to the female. It hurts as it bleeds a little but don't worry. Apply a little flesh aloe vera on it to ease the pain and it would drop out eventually.

You wiil find it ttrying to preen or reach for the feather or the wound but its okay since we have applied fresh aloe vera.

So don't worry, she would be fine. If you still can't get wat i mean, you can e-mail me and i will tell you more and more detailed. Just go to my profile and e-mail me if you really need to. :)

  3. i ould catch it to make sure its safe and bring her to the vet.

  4. You should just call a vet and ask what to do.  The vet will probably not charge you for the call.

  5. don't rip it out. Look it up online first and see if it is considered a "blood feather" if you cut that while clipping your birds wings or pull it out, they will bleed out almost instantly. :0(

  6. Just pluck it out won't hurt.
