I have a male and female budgie. They have been mating for about two weeks.. I have had a box in their cage for about two months. They were very loving and the female was spending longer times in the box every day. Just this last week they started fighting so bad that both were bleeding. Than for two days they were loving again. Now they are fighting so bad that i am afraid they are going kill each other. I can't tell if she is ready to lay eggs or not. she looked like it for a while, now i'am not sure. I'am concerned about their fighting. any suggestions??

  1. keep cages close together so they will not become lonely. make sure they have plenty of feed and water. make sure to add vitamin drops to water and gravel to seed. vitamins in case of some sort of deficiency and gravel to grind food. keep them this way at least a week. if loud mouth will not be quiet at night-cover him up. it sounds like you have two male birds. young ones at that. Young males will fight for dominates. older males usually tolerate younger males, if a young male gets to feisty the older male will give him a good peck. the fighting all the time and preventing the other one from eating leads me to think there is a health problem. if the other bird was hungry enough it would really fight back and a balance in the cage between the birds would be made. if one of the birds is sick the other will keep after it until it dies. laws of nature. well i hope this will help a little.

  2. My suggestion is to buy another cage and separate them as soon as possible. (especially before one of them is seriously injured!)
