Buell throttle isn't working properly

Question

my wife's 99 lightning when riding, the rpms and engine continue to rev even after the throttle has been turned back to the normal position. and as its coming down it sounds like it is very gradual while it comes back down? is there any ideas what might be causing this or how i can fix it?

It's a Buell. Buy a honda next time.

Carburetors out of synchronization will cause an engine to act in that manor.

It's called a TPS reset.  Any decent Harley/Buell shop can perform.

Other option is a laptop or palm and some home made connections, combined with ECMSPY.

The dealer is much easier.  This is assuming the 99 Lightning is Fuel Injected, just like both of my 2000s.

Get some carb cleaner and spray all the carb linkages.  Also replace the throttle cables.
