Buenos Aires...?

Just wondering, is Buenos Aires a safe wealthy city? I was watching some show about gangs in South American countries and I can't remember what was said about Buenos Aires if anything.

Is it one of those cities where if you're a foreigner you kind of have to watch out? Or is it a pretty safe place? Whats the economy like also?

  1. I'm from Buenos Aires and I can tell you that every day there are more and more foreingners here.

I've been in NY and I think it's preety mucha safe like it. I mean, you should watch your purse, and try not to go alone at night. Try not to show off if you 're carring cameras or jewlery, and do not walk alone after midnight. Still, you can walk safely almost anywere and enjoy your trip.

The economy... well, right now 1 dollar equals 3,18 pesos. So, imagine that a bus ticket will cost you like 25 cents, a Coke in a kiosk is about 50 cents, a beer in a bar arround 2,5 dollars, a lunch for two could be 12 dollars and a dinner for two with wine in a fancy restaurant could cost you 30 - 35 dollars.

I hope you enjoy Buenos Aires!

  2. Dude, I live in Miami, and after what's going on down here Buenos Aires looks  like Disney World.

Now the cops, down here in Miami, can have assault rifles, and shoot people after only on warning, great place Miami!

Buenos Aires is an almost 500 year old city, with things of the 22nd century, you feel like you are in London,or Paris or anywhere in Europe, take my word for it, you'll find more Americans down there than in Miami. Culture is everywhere, as well as art shows, movie theaters, you name, just GO and see by yourself, amazing city!

I would call it the San Francisco of the 21st century.

  3. I went there last summer with some friends...

so fun.. we didn't run into that kind of trouble :)

  4. buenos aires is sort like new york, you the safe, the not so safe places . there are very afluent places, and also, sort like the projects. overall, go there, and you will find many tourists.

  5. I live in Buenos Aires right now, and I'm from America.  It is a beautiful city, but like every - including in the states - the are parts of the city you should avoid.  Most of the crime you hear about perpetrated on tourists is overblown horror stories, but you still have to be a bit cautious.  The economy down here has been having some trouble, which means that the exchange rate is pretty favorable to very favorable for people coming from places with the US dollar, the Pound or the Euro.  I personally have had absolutely no issue with crime or anything, but I'm a guy and it can sometimes be easier for guys.  I live with girls, however and besides not wanting to go certain places alone or at night, they dont seem afraid at all.  I recommend you come on down.

  6. Gangs in south American countries?

Oh, boy...you need to get out a little.

Buenos Aires is like any other major city in the world, like Ny or London.

It's safe, modern , beautiful and cosmopolitan.

But, like in any other city, you should watch out where are you going. Simple as that.
