Buffalo Bills QB believes uncertainty over head coach Chan Gailey’s future is hurting team – NFL News
So much attention has been given to the prospects of the Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey that the Bills players are now coming out in public to show their displeasure about the media hype that has been created over the issue.
In an interview with WGR-AM, Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick gave the notion that concerns about Gailey’s future with the franchise is hurting the team morale. When asked how the players are taking this issue, Fitzpatrick said:
"Yeah, it is (tough to block it out), you try to. You try to make sure that your main focus, certainly on game day, but throughout the week is on preparing and getting ready. But it's hard, just with all the uncertainty in the air right now with what's to
come.”
Chances of Gailey exiting Bills are getting higher and higher as the team is currently standing with 5-10 record and is on course to end its third season in a row with a losing record. Fitzpatrick carried on and said:
“I think it's very hard at this point to block out and for it not to be on the forefront of your mind. You've just gotta make sure it doesn't affect -- and I've got to make sure that it doesn't affect the way that I play."
It has been a case two halves for the Bills this season. They have sometimes looked extraordinarily genius on some occasions while showing Achilles heels on others.
So much was expected of the fluent offence before the start of the season, but the team struggled massively to find consistency.
Bills have a 15-32 record in three seasons under the guidance of Gailey. Moreover, the team has only got one victory during this three-year period against a team with a winning record.
However, Gailey might not be the only one under threat of losing his job as Fitzpatrick himself has attracted an enormous amount of criticism from the fans for his turnover-prone performance this season.
Bills general manager Buddy Nix has already made his intentions clear that he wants to draft a franchise quarterback.
